Club Rules

Simple, clear expectations that help TWYA sessions stay respectful, welcoming, safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Our shared expectations

TWYA is a community where every young person should feel respected, included and able to participate without fear of bullying, humiliation or discrimination. These rules apply during sessions, trips, online activities and TWYA events.

1. Respect people and the space

  • Speak to other participants, staff, volunteers and visitors respectfully.
  • No bullying, intimidation, threatening behaviour, harassment or deliberately hurtful language.
  • Respect people's personal space, belongings, culture, background and views.
  • Help us look after venues, equipment and shared materials.

2. Participate positively

  • Arrive ready to take part and follow reasonable instructions from TWYA leaders.
  • Allow other people to speak and be heard.
  • Ask questions when something is unclear and tell a trusted adult if you need support.
  • Do not deliberately disrupt an activity or prevent others from participating.

3. Keep everyone safe

  • Follow safety instructions for sports, travel, equipment and practical activities.
  • Do not bring weapons, alcohol, illegal substances or dangerous items to TWYA activities.
  • Tell a TWYA adult about an injury, concern, unsafe situation or behaviour that worries you.
  • Only leave an activity or venue in line with the agreed collection or sign-out arrangements.

4. Phones, photos and online behaviour

Phones should not interfere with sessions. Photos, recordings or posts about another person must not be shared without appropriate permission. Online group spaces connected to TWYA should be treated with the same respect as face-to-face sessions.

5. When rules are not followed

TWYA will normally respond in a fair and proportionate way. This may include a reminder, a private conversation, involving a parent or guardian, an agreed behaviour plan, or where safety is affected, asking someone to leave an activity. Serious safeguarding concerns will be handled under our safeguarding procedures.

Important: This page is intended to clearly communicate TWYA's operating expectations and participant information. Where a signed consent, medical, safeguarding or legal form is required for a specific activity, the relevant TWYA form and instructions will apply.
